LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) has officially launched the i8 model, with three configurations priced at RMB321,800, RMB349,800, and RMB369,800, respectively, according to Huatai Securities' research report. The Pro and Max versions are priced the same as the guide price of the corresponding L8 models, while the Ultra version is RMB10,000 cheaper than the L8 Ultra.
Upbeat about the i8's VLA model, standard 5C supercharging, and spacious, comfortable cabin experience, the broker held a positive outlook for the sales performance of the all-electric i8 and the upcoming i6 (expected to launch in September). With the VLA model onboard, the company's assisted driving capabilities are estimated to remain among the top tier in China.
Huatai Securities selected GEELY AUTO (00175.HK), BYD COMPANY (01211.HK), and SERES (601127.SH) as comparable companies. Their average forecasted 2025 P/E ratio was 17 times. Considering LI AUTO-W's faster VLA rollout and more comprehensive supercharging network (which can further support the dual-energy matrix development), the broker assigned a valuation premium to LI AUTO-W and maintained the 2025 P/E ratio at 21 times.
Huatai Securities mildly adjusted its target price for LI AUTO-W to HKD139.49 from HKD140.34 in light of exchange rate fluctuations. The company's rating was kept as Buy.
